At LowTermInsurance we understand that life is hectic and scheduling a medical exam to qualify for life insurance is not on your list of priorities. Allow us to compare quotes for you for both a non-medical exam and fully underwritten life insurance policy. Often, the rates between the two policies will be insignificant and no blood drawing is required for a non-medical exam policy
High cholesterol and blood pressure are very common reasons a policy comes back from the underwriter with a higher premium required. If you are concerned about your blood work results then paying a few additional dollars for a non-medical life insurance policy may actually save you money in the long run should your blood work results show poor results.
Our recommendations will vary depending on whether you are a 50 year old looking for $500,000 in term life insurance or a 25 year old looking for $200,000 in term life insurance.
Added benefit? A non-medical exam application is often approved that same day!
A fully underwritten life insurance application requires a medical exam. There is no charge for the exam. The examiner will come to your home or office (you decide). The exam is very short and the examiner will check your height, weight and take a small blood and urine sample. A professional lab will examine your results and the life insurance carrier may or may not offer you a policy based on your results.
For healthy individuals the typical time it takes for the life insurance carrier to make an offer generally takes about two - three weeks once all the test results are completed and received from the lab. For someone not as healthy it can take 4-6 weeks or longer.
Remember, a 30 year old seeking $300,000 in term life insurance may have very little to worry about concerning a medical exam. Whereas, a 55 year purchasing $600,000 in term life or whole life insurance may have valid reasons to select the non-medical option.
Added benefit? The one advantage with a fully underwritten policy is that for those who are healthy the premiums will be lower than a non-medical policy.

At LowTermInsurance we recommend to some of our clients to buy term life insurance with no medical exam first. Please note, clients who are certain that their blood work is going to come back ""clean" with no underwriting issues need not go for a non-medical policy. However, if you are uncertain that your blood pressure, cholesterol, or sugar levels might be elevated, then we suggest taking the safest route of a non-medical life insurance application as long as it makes wise financial sense.
If you are considering a non-medical policy please take this into consideration: If you have not had a physical in the last three years, we do not see the value in taking the chance of having blood work done only to discover that you have a pre-existing condition like high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol?
Instead, take the non-medical exam term life insurance policy and lock in your coverage. Then, if you desire, purchase a term policy with a medical exam in order to find out if you can qualify for a lower annual premium. Unfortunately, if you take the medical exam first and find out something is wrong with your health, you will not be able to go back and choose the non-medical life insurance policy because the Medical Information Bureau (MIB) now has a record of your health history. NOTE: Once your information is on the MIB it is available to all the insurance carriers to review. It is permanently available!
